Quarter 1: Debrief
First quarter in EE10 wasn't so bad. I was really nervous over the summer because I thought it would be like my 9th grade Enriched English class--- when I walked into that classroom it was like I was breathing in pure, concentrated stress. Actually I learned a bunch this quarter, and it was all low stress. I learned how to look more deeply at films and analyize them, I'm learning how to write a "real" thesis statement and how to develop themes, and I learned not to save assignments in this class for last minute. :D I truly believe I'm becoming a better writer, and I enjoy writing. Next quarter I want to get a better understanding of how to write thesis statements, and I want to think even more deeply about future essay topics so that as a result, I can write a better analysis. Also, next quarter I'm going to try to speak up more in class discussions (which can benefit me, but it could also benefit my peers in sharing my ideas with the entire class).

I like how you added that you learned to stop procrastinating. I would have mentioned that, except that I still do everything at the last minute, so that would have been a lie. But yeah, English really hasn't been all that stressful so far, which is quite nice, seeing that all my classes are going to be the death of me. Nice post.
I agree about not leaving Ms. Froehlich's assignments until the last minute. When I'm rushed, I don't ever right as well. I don't think the class is as stressful as I thought it was going to be, but I disagree that this quarter was low stress. I think some of the papers are pretty overwhelming, much more than last years. You have a good goal for next quarter. I'm sure you have really good ideas to share in class :).
Nice post! I agree with basically everything in your post...but I'll elaborate :) I agree with what you said about becoming a better writer, because I feel that we have really learned a lot just within the first couple months of school. Writing those three-part thesis statements were so tricky but I feel like I'm getting a lot better at it! I also hope that I can improve on my writing and especially my analysis papers.
Oh and I just read Anna's post, and I'm also glad that this class isn't too stressful because a couple of my other classes are killing me.
Hey Haley!
I see you've learned a lot this quarter....just wanted to mention that Catherine was right about you writing super long posts :P
oh and I'm glad you learned a lot this quarter...you might be able to teach me something too!!
I totally agree with what you said about not procrastiniating. I've learned that for assignments to really be good you have to spend some time on them! I think that my only stress this quarter was learning how to budget my time better to make sure all my assignments get done.
You have accomplished alot this quarter with your writing. Although you may still be struggling with thesis statements, just wait until after you have completed your research paper - you'll feel like a master writer!
Haley you are so lucky that this quarter for English was low stress because mine was not. You are also lucky that you learned how not to procrastinate. I still have not so I might be asking you for some tips. I do think that I have learned a lot in English this year though and I want to learn how to right a thesis statement too.
